Interactive Media Associates Launches Redesigned New York City Ballet Web Site

Parsippany, NJ (November 21, 2000) Just in time for Opening Night and Nutcracker season, Interactive Media Associates, Inc., a leading Internet eCommerce planning, development and marketing services firm, today announced that it has launched a totally redesigned New York City Ballet Web site (www.nycballet.com).

The New York City Ballet, one of the foremost dance companies in the world, has partnered with IMA on their Web site design, maintenance, and hosting since October 1998. Last year nycballet.com averaged more than 2,000 visitors a day and e-commerce revenues exceeded $1.4 million.

The site redesign is the result of months of planning and joint consultation. Using DHTML and layers, it employs a soothing color palette and rich New York City Ballet imagery. Among the innovative features included in the enhanced launch are streaming video and a news feed of daily ballet-related items. The wide ranging interactive educational and reference information of the previous site is fully incorporated.

Other features include extensive archives on the New York State Theatre, ballet staff, Company history, performances, and programming. The performance schedule includes immediate links to casting, running times, and Repertory Notes, continually updated ticket availability, and access to a wide range of beautiful NYCB merchandise. As with any site designed by IMA, the navigation and engaging format provides both experienced and novice users with a site that is easy to use and enjoy.

"Driven by the great success of nycballet.com, launched in 1998, and nearly a million user visits in FY00 alone, New York City Ballet opened its 2000/01 season with a newly-redesigned Web site on November 21, 2000," said Carol Landers, Director of Research at the New York City Ballet. "The new site, again designed and maintained by Interactive Media Associates, brings an unparalleled level of sophisticated and exciting functionality and features to the world of performing arts web sites. The strength of the partnership between NYCB and IMA has only grown over time and, indeed, is wholly reflected in the site's performance and high level of patron satisfaction."

"IMA was delighted to redesign and enhance the New York City Ballet web site," added Len Muscarella, president of IMA. "We consider our partnership with the Ballet to be among the critical factors of our success as a company. NYCB’s commitment to the Internet, and their commitment to excellence, makes them the kind of exciting and challenging client that brings out the best in IMA. For that we are most appreciative."
