Challenge:
When IMA did its initial keyword research for the Schonbraun McCann Group (SMG), we realized that they were only being found in search engines for their company name or for acronyms such as SMGLLP. None of the keywords SMG or IMA suggested yielded any results at all.
Solution:
IMA worked on the site from several perspectives. First and foremost, the entire site was redesigned and coded for SEO relevance. One of the success factors for SMG is that the new site was designed using the Ektron CMS, which provides specific fields for page titles, keywords, and descriptions, which allowed us to hone in on each individual page. The client then requested that we focus specifically on improving their Google search results. While we concentrated on Google over the three month period of the engagement, our results had a lasting effect for all of the major search engines.
Results:
- The site is currently well indexed and cached. When a prospective customer searches the company by name, the site appears in the Google Site link top position, including interior links to other sections of the site.
- At the outset of this project, the client was not being found in any of the keywords ranked in the top 31 positions. We saw a 71% increase in rankings at the end of the project.
- Thirty-four keywords were ranked in the number one position, including such short phrases as “real estate mergers, “REIT services,” “IPO advisory consultants,” and “real estate strategy services.” This demonstrates that IMA’s search engine work does not rely on longer (longtail) phrases to yield results.
- Our concentration on Google increased listings in that search engine from 69 to 102.
- As noted above, our optimization of the site also improved their listings in the top nine search engines, as shown by the rise in their keyword visibility score (the percentage of keywords ranked in the top 30 results) from 11% at the project outset to 22%.
- The project was limited to a three-month period, but the results of IMA’s work have proven to be long-lasting. The site maintains a keyword visibility score of 22% several months after the end of the project, while the number of number one listings is now 48.
- The client was happy with the increased ratings due to their three-month SEO engagement with IMA.
