iMedia Website Goes Mobile

Back on May 24, we featured iMedia’s new website on our blog and said that additional enhancements were in the works – specifically, the mobile version of the site.

We’re proud that it took us just over a month to launch our mobile website – which shows you how quickly such a project can be implemented – if you’ve done the planning in advance.

Our approach towards our mobile site reflects several best practices in scaling down the site so it can be usable on the smaller device:

    • We considered what content would be most likely to be searched for when the web user was “on the road” – and edited the text down– yet without losing the value our content brings to our users.

    • We provided ample links to the full site, in case our mobile visitor wanted to learn more about some aspect of our capabilities or company background.

    • Our regular site features an expandable marquee of client images, linked to full case studies. On the mobile site, we minimized homepage graphics to just two images from our current portfolio, linked to our client list. Using fewer, smaller graphics on the homepage helps with download times and the reduced real estate – and yet still projects that beautiful sense of iMedia design.

    • The site is organized in a single-column structure that is ideal in the constrained space, as well as being ultimately scalable when flipping between portrait and landscape mode.

    • The mobile site design –icons, buttons, menus – have grown in size, taking into consideration the change from clickable website elements to tappable mobile ones.

    • Our ultimate call to action – Request a Consultation – is clearly accessible on every page of the website. Our mobile instance includes it as well. But where the site functionality encompasses an Ajax form, the mobile site takes users to a completely new page, giving them the room they need to fill out the relevant details.

With the explosive growth of smartphones and tablets, it’s clear that every website should include a mobile version that allows users to quickly and easily explore what they most need to learn while “on the road.” With the steady increase of users who access the web on their smartphones or tablets, this is an area you cannot afford to ignore. Work with the mobile experts at iMedia to decide how to leverage your already-existing website, making it mobile aware. Want to talk to us about it?
