iMedia’s Joel: 70th Annual Columbus Day Parade

On October 13, 2014, if you were anywhere on Fifth Avenue between 44th- 72nd streets in New York City you knew right away that it was Columbus Day. The streets were filled with crowds of people celebrating the historical day as colorful floats, talented marching bands and performers moved down Fifth Avenue.

The Columbus Citizens Foundation hosted the wonderful 70th Annual Columbus Day Parade. It is the world’s largest celebration of Italian- American heritage and culture with more than 40,000 participants and over one million spectators. Broadcasted live on WABC-TV, Maria Bartiromo and Joe Piscopo introduced the parade participants as they reached the red carpet and performance destination. The 2014 Honorees included Grand Marshal Frank Bisignano, Frank D’Amelio, Barbara and Richard Naclerio, and Raymond Kelly.

iMedia’s CEO and member of the Columbus Citizens Foundation, Joel Macaluso, marched alongside his family on the Columbus Citizens Foundation float. Joel explained “The Columbus Day Parade is always a fun day. I am proud to participate in this celebration in with my family and fellow Italian-Americans.”
